How to be a modern everyday Blair Waldorf

Anyone who has seen the hit show Gossip Girl or has an interest in fashion loves and worships the ultimate fashion icon Blair Waldorf. Not only did she raise me to be the chic fashionista I am today but she also taught me the do's and dont's of the fashion world, designer labels and to not be afraid to stand out from the rest. Blair certainly has a voice and impeccable taste that inspires many of us aspiring upper east siders.
Let's take some of her knowledge and talk about ways we can follow her style without maxing out our credit cards (the more affordable way).
Rule number 1. Headbands are a must! Her favourite signature accessory that transforms any outfit and shows elegance, poise and class. If it's not a headband, you'll see her rocking a fabulous head piece like a beret or a bucket hat. Accessorising is essential, don't forget jewellery! the more bling, the better, or even just some nice pearls will do the trick.
Rule number 2. Experiment with patterns like florals (Blair had a thing for floral it seems). Different textures also are important, change it up and keep things interesting. Tweed is always sleek and stylish- courtesy of Chanel.
Rule number 3. A handbag can compliment any outfit. Blair is never seen without her favourite clutch or purse. It's part of what makes her so remarkable.
Rule number 4. Tights are crucial, never wear leggings as pants. Blair always sports a skirt or dress with her favourite tights as it's more elegant and lady like.
Rule number 5. Be brave with colours! Blair never wore the same colour twice in a row, don't just settle with a wardrobe full of black or grey.
Rule number 6. Know your brands. Blair had a talent to name designer just by looking at a shoe or a purse and that's truly inspiring. Do your homework, find a brand or label that you like and test your knowledge.
Rule number 7. it doesn't matter what the occassion may be, any excuse to dress up is a good one. Like Queen B herself, don't let people tell you that you're overdressed! you dress to impress, besides, you never know who you may run into.
Rule number 8. By now, I'm hoping you already have a clear idea of how to dress like Blair but incase you still need a helpful hint, a peacoat, cape or jacket is the perfect way to complete any look.
